Adverbial phrases


Some adverbial phrases that are seen in group or repetitive form. Such as ;

 

"hemen hemen" ----> almost, nearly


gece gündüz   ---->  day and night


er geç  --->  sooner or  later, eventually


ikide bir  ---> again and again, constantly, all the time.

İkide bir  onu rahatsız ediyordu. --->  He was disturbing her constantly.


aşağı yukarı ---> approximately, more or less

Aşağı yukarı beş kilometre yürüdük. ---> We walked approximately 5 km.


Hemen şimdi ---> Right now, straightaway, at once.

Hemen şimdi getiriyorum. ---> I am bringing it right now. 


Kırk yılda bir ---> Once in a blue moon.

Buraya yağmur kırk yılda bir yağar. ---> It rains here once in a blue moon. [ In other words, it is very rare to see raining here ]


arada sırada ---> Occasionally, sometimes, now and then.

Arada sırada bize uğrar ---> He visits us sometimes. 


az çok ---> more or less


şöyle böyle ---> so so , not too bad


üç aşağı beş yukarı ---> approximately, roughly.


doğru dürüst ---> properly.


İşini doğru dürüst yap ! ---> Do your job properly !
