Merhaba.

I know that "temas" means "contact/touch".

But how to translate it in this sentence:

"Başbakan Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, İsveç´teki temaslarını tamamlayarak, (...) Polonya´nın başkenti Varşova’ya geldi."

The prime minister of Turkey R.T.E. came to Poland´s capital city (after/by?) completing the contacts which are in Sweden" (??)

That doesn´t sound very fine xD

TRT web-site translated that as follows ;

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who completed his contacts in Sweden proceeded to Poland.

http://www.trt-world.com/trtworld/en/newsDetail.aspx?HaberKodu=70b7956f-daf9-4ef2-935a-32c6014f835d&title=PM%20Erdogan%20arrives%20in%20Poland

Note that  their translation is not literal.

My translation would be;

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at Polish Capital ,Warsow after completing talks in Sweden.

1.With all respect to TRT web-site, their translation sucks. "Contacts" (marked red above) stands for certain persons. One does not "complete his contacts" , but rather "talks to", "negotiates with", "exchanges ideas with", "conducts discussions with" his contacts:or simply completes the list of contacts to be visited

2. I will not comment on tunci´s own translation. He gets delirious, when critisized.

The Türkish word that suitably fits in this context is "görüşmek" (mutual exchange of ideas)

Well, TRT didn´t put a photo so much related to Poland as here (the same photo was published in Washington Post, apparently they changed it)
