From Turkish to American University?

Hello everyone. I´m new to the website, and to this subject. I would appreciate any help you have to offer!

My question is, would it be possible for a student in Turkey to finish school in America? If I were to transfer (after two years) from a university in Turkey, would the American university acknowledge my previous schooling, or would I have to retake all the courses? Does the university decide this?

Even if you cannot answer this, but would like to share what you know about anything related to the subject, I would be very grateful! Thank you! Smile

This is a good question. Unfortunately it would be highly unlikely that you could transfer in the middle of one´s degree. American Universities are  not following the same curriculum as European Universities. The course outlines would be different and structured differently. You may even have difficulty in some instances to have a bachelor degree from one country accepted by American Universities and the reverse would and could be similar. Meaning an American student uprooting and trying to continue a degree in another country. However if you have a bachelor degree from your country  you can attempt to have it valadated in United States  through several different methods. The validation will depend on the particular studies. A possible method of garnering U.S. degree equivalency for your foreign bachelor´s degree is through specialized examination. There are a number of recognized university-level equivalency examinations that can be taken. Two of those examinations include the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and the Program on Non-collegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI). Results or credits earned from these programs can be used to validate a foreign bachelor´s degree.

In answer to you question most likely you would have to start over and lose any creditation you already have.
