I have been following the news in Turkey about the corruption of goverment and now sacking more than 15 police chiefs and rewriting laws giving the ruling party  a bill to parliament that would give the government more say over the appointment of judges and prosecutors. It seems to me that it is becoming a political horror show. I am worried that there will be more protest and possibly injury to tourist to bring this to the attention of the world. Because Erdogan can´t jail every journalist. Or control every tv news show in the world.

Opinions please do you think 2014 will be safe for tourist considering the recent events and the upcoming election.

I´ve been in Turkey for four months, and while it may very depending or the region you´re planning on visiting (I´m in a town in İzmir province), I´ve seen no sign of public unrest around here. Nobody likes Erdoğan, but I guess that´s old new to the Turks - they don´t seem to talk about it much.

Thank you for your input to this question. I am still reading news articles about Turkey. It seems it is turning into a controlled country.
