Henry more corrections are coming. I hope I am not offending you. You can correct my English in return
My attempt as a learner, but their are a few idioms that I´m not sure about.
[x]’yi asla cevap veremeyeceği bir soruyla baş başa bırakır.
He leaves x face to face with a question that he(x) can never answer.
He/she will never give X an answer, face to face he/she will leave him/her with a question.
[x] ya babasının dediğini yapacaktır ya da ömür boyu verdiği kararın yükünü taşıyacaktır.
Either X will do what his/her father said, or for all his/her life he/she will bear the burden of his/her decision. (or he/she will have to live with their choice)
[x] bu seçimi yapamaz ama [y] geri adım atmayınca [x]’ye ayrılmaktan başka yol kalmaz.
X wont be hasnt been able to make this choice, but when Y stands stood his/her ground (stands firm), other than to leave, there wont be was any no other choice for X .
Wait for a Turk to check and correct my attempt. Obviously the context can change the meanings, but hopefully it helps you a bit.
Sometimes even using aorist tense we talk about past in Turkish.
