- Ip durmak

Linking gerund  -Ip  and  "durmak " can be used to express continuity of an action.

 Verb stem +  Ip [ip,up,üp]    +      dur + tense ending +  person

Gül    +       üp                           dur  +  uyor

Gülüp  duruyor.  --->  He/She keeps laughing.

* There is an inference to being annoyed or complaining.

- Boş boş konuşup durma.  ---> Don´t keep talking rubbish.

                                             Don´t keep talking nonsense.

- Bana bakıp durma öyle !  ---> Don´t keep looking at me like that !

* it can also be used to state  good actions performed many times.

Bütün gün dua edip durduk. --> We kept praying all day.

Tüm gün sevgilisini düşünüp durdu ---> He/She kept thinking of his/her lover all day.

* This form can´t be negated on the -Ip part, it can only be negated on the second [dur] part.

 İstanbul´dayken seni arayıp durmadı, değil mi ? -->  He didn´t keep calling you while you were in Istanbul, did he  ?
