Does anyone know what this means in Turkish? just 1 word. Is it Slang?

I was talking to this guy and quite often he would add in the word, ´hım´ before his sentence. Does anyone know what this means/what it represents? is it slang but what for?

i think it is turkish equivalent of "well..." as some english speakers use.

...and also the equivalent of ´hmmmm..´ Do Turks used ´şey..´ In thıs sense  as well?
