In Turkish, the verb "gitmek" is always dative

ev+i(possessive of 3rd person)-------->evi (his/her home)

ev+i(poss.)+e(dative)-------------------->evine (to his/her home)

If one brings the case suffixes (dative case, accusative case, genitive and others...) after the possessive suffix of the 3rd people, you should pronounce "n" between these suffixes.

i(possessive) _ n _ e (dative case)

When is "s" brought as combining letter?

If the word´s root ends with vowel, if you bring the possessive suffix of 3rd people.

iki (two)

iki+i(possessive)--------->ikisi (two of them (purely: its two))

İkisi siyah, gerisi beyaz. (Two of them are black, the rest are white.)

başarı (success)

Başarısı hepimizi sevindirdi. (His/her success made all us happy.)

başarı+ı(possessive)---->başarısı (his/her success)

para (money)

Parası kayboldu. (His money got lost.)

Parasını kaybetti. (He lost his money.)

para+ı(possessive)------------------>parası (his money)

para+ı(possessive)+ı(accusative)->parasını (his money (acc.))

Mehmet - I think you meant "thank" / " say ´thank you´ " instead of "apologize", as "to apologize" means "özür dilemek". Sorry if I misunderstood your sentence.

One could state "çok teşekkürler" instead of "thanks very much" just this.

I agree - I just wanted to point out a rather small mistake which I think you made in "You could also apologize in Turkish.". Every native speaker and advanced learner here helps us, learners, when pointing our (sometimes hopeless) mistakes, so I thought it may be useful if I point mistake to someone who already helped me.
