Elveda lyrics/Bengü

...

Sen değil miydin bana aşk emek ister diyen
Ben değil miydim sana kalbiyle suçsuz gelen
Şimdi vazgeçtin yani bunu mu söylüyorsun
Sen de çok sevdin biliyorsun

...

Did you not say wether loving me was painful

Did I not come to you with an innocent heart

Now you have given up, is that what you are saying

You know that you also loved

What tense is gelen and diyen?

gelen and diyen are adjective verbs.

1) If they come before a noun they describre the noun.

Eve gelen çocuk  The child who comes to home

Dur diyen adam  The man who says stop

2) If they dont describe a noun in a sentence then they function as a noun.

Gelene merhaba de. Say hello to the one who comes

Diyene bak. Look at the one who says (that)

3) They dont have tenses. Only when we translate them to English, we choose a tense for them according to what sentence means.

Dün gelenler kimlerdi? Who were those who came yesterday?

Buraya çok gelen oluyor. A lot of people come here.

Thank you, hopefully that is pointing me in the right direction:

My attempt:

Were you not the one who said loving me was painful

Was I not the one who came to you with an innocent heart

Now you have given up, is that what you are saying

You know that you also loved

Yes way better now. "Emek istemek" means "to demand effort".

Were you not the one who said love demands effort?

Just wondering about the ´bana´. How it fits in or why it is omitted, I thought it means ´to me´.
