Here is my try at translating "Arkadaşım Eşek." I am completely guessing on the first two lines of the song, because I don´t understand "göçeli" and "görüşmeyeli." What is this "-eli" ending? Someone told me this is past tense of some sort, but I can´t see how to connect it with the rest of the sentence. That´s where my guessing came in.

Another question: In the song, Barış is not using the usual stresses in "arkadaşım," is he? I guess this is because of the cadence of the song, but does that bother native Turkish speakers, or do you just go with it?

I should have realized this couldn´t be "has been weaned" just by looking at the verb. Aaaargh! But I was too focused on "sarıkız." It never occurred to me that it was a subject on its own. This shows my dependence on the dictionary, where I found nothing like "sarıkız." Well, I have learned for next time.

"-eli means since."

This was also puzzling. I couldn´t find it in any suffix dictionary, and I was having no luck trying to break it down on my own. Again I have learned.
