Could anyone translate this Grange qoute, please?
"Mutlu olmayı yarına bırakmak, nehrin karşısına geçmek için o nehrin durmasını beklemeye benzer ve bilirsin o nehir asla durmaz."

"Mutlu olmayı yarına bırakmak, nehrin karşısına geçmek için o nehrin durmasını beklemeye benzer ve bilirsin o nehir asla durmaz."

I guess you know Jean Christophe Grange is a French writer, so the translation to Turkish may have altered the original French words.

Until a native speaker attempts the translation, here is my attempt - starting with a breakdown of the sentence elements

mutlu olmak - to be happy (being happy)

yarına bırakmak - to leave till tomorrow

nehir - river

karşı = opposite

nehrin karşısı = the opposite (other) side of the river

nehrin karşısına geçmek için = for to pass to the other side of the river

o = he/she/it/that

nehrin durmasını beklemeye benzer - like waiting for the river to stop (flowing)

ve bilirsin o nehir asla durmaz - and you know that river never stops (flowing)

So roughly

To leave being happy till tomorrow is like waiting until a river stops flowing to cross to the other side, and knowing that this won´t ever happen.

or more simply

Don´t wait till tomorrow to be happy!
