Would this be a correct conversation between a shopkeeper and a person wanting to buy stamps???

Pul var mı?
Evet, pul kaş istner misiniz?
Pul kitapda kaş?
Altı pul kitapda
Iki kitap pulı lütfen
Buyurun eferim

Do you have any stamps?
Yes, how many would you like?
How many stamps in a book?
Six stamps in a book
Two books of stamps please
There you go sir

except for "kitap" for "book" in that context, the conversation would be quite acceptable.

you might want to see a better one:

- Pul var mı?
- Evet (var), kaç tane istersiniz?
- Bir şeritte(=destede, dizide) kaç tane var?
- Altı pul bir şeritte.
- İki şeritlik pul lütfen
- Buyrun efendim.

Why the -lik suffix???

I am working on the prose you have posted - but I am finding it difficult because it is very poetic and emotive. Not the sort of language that I generally read or write.......but I will ask Sam when she wakes up to assist

Because you asked, not "twelve stamps", but "two books of stamps".

In such cases, "of" is translated into turkish as the "lık/lik", or sometimes "lı/li" suffix.

Take a look at these:

2 kilograms of sugar: 2 kilogramLIK şeker
an experience of three years: üç yılLIK bir deneyim
an apartment of 4 rooms: 4 odaLI daire
2 kilometres of bad road: 2 kilometreLİK bozuk yol

As for the lines, are you serious at what you told?

"As for the lines, are you serious about what you said?"

Yes - sorry, Sam woke up later than intended and then we went to a her dad's for a barbeque. We are both a little drunk now so not able to rewrite the text but we will do this for you. If we forget then keep reminding us!
