How would you say these quasi-comparisons:

1) "He is (rather) more talented than hard-working"

2) "He is more of a strategist than a tactician".

This is a different comparison from the ordinary "-dan daha". I don´t know what they are called, if they have a name at all. You are comparing one to himself/herself.

There is that "olmaktan ziyade"construct.

"O calişkan olmaktan ziyade yetenekli(dir)." This ok?

Caliskandan ziyade yetenekli. (shortened version)

Caliskan olmaktan cok yetenekli ( or Caliskandan cok yetenekli)

Caliskan degil de yetenekli (colloquial)
