Hi there,

I´m willing to move to Istanbul in October ´15. I´ll be studying at Istanbul University and staying in the dorms.  As I haven´t been to Turkey before, I have few questions.

I´ve heard that I´ll have to register my phone in order to use a sim card there. I want to use internet on my phone and laptop to call home and to check emails and for study purposes too. I´m not sure if there is free wifi in the dorms. (or atleast cheap wifi)

What are my options?

Can I buy a prepaid data sim and use it with a USB internet modem?

*I´m not looking for the fastest, but more economic
