Hello. It´s been a while since the last time I posted a short story translation here. This time, I searched the Internet for free-to-use short stories (no copyright issues) and I deided to try translating some. I will be posting bits of the story as I go. Feel free to check as many sentences as you´d like, even checking just 1 is enough. If you feel like some of my sentences ARE correct BUT could be written in a better way, please include your own suggestion. I appreciate the effort and I thank you in advance.
Penny was a little girl who lived in Alaska.
Penny, Alaska´da yaşayan küçük bir kızmış.
It was ice-cold there.
Orası buz gibi soğuktu soğukmuş.
She kept praying that she could play in the lush, green and warm gardens like we do but of course, she couldn’t.
Penny, yemyeşil, sıcak sıcacık bahçelerde bizim gibi oynayabilmek için dua etmeye devam ediyordu. edip duruyormuş ama tabii ki oynayamıyormuş.
Her father, like all the men there, didn’t have a job.
Babasının, oradaki bütün adamların erkekler gibi, bir işi yoktu yokmuş.
He hunted seals and caught fishes as was the custom.
Geleneklere göre adet olduğu üzere fok avlıyor ve balık avlıyordu tutuyormuş.
So her father hadn’t even heard of money and even if he had money, there weren’t any aero planes to take them abroad.
Bu yüzden babası paradan hiç duymamıştı,
Para nedir hiç bilmiyormuş,
parası olsa da bile* onları yurt dışına götürecek uçak yokmuş zaten.
* you shouldn´t use them together: olsa da or olsa bile
Now somewhere near Penny’s house was a deep, dark forest.
Şimdi, Penny´nin evinin yakınlarında derin koyu, kara karanlık bir orman vardı varmış.
Everyone was afraid to enter it.
Ormana girmekten herkes korkuyormuş.
They said that whoever entered it would be sucked in by a great hole.
Oraya her kim girerse girsin (or oraya giren olursa) büyük bir delik tarafından içine çekeceğini söylediler yutulacağı söyleniyormuş.
One day, Penny was playing with her Eskimo friends when one of the boys shouted “Hey, I dare one of you to enter the magic forest."
Bir gün Penny Eskimo arkadaşlarıyla oynarken oğlanların oğlanlardan biri ´Hey, herhanginizden sihirli ormana girmeye cüret ediyorum" diye bağırdı.
"hadi, biriniz büyülü ormana girsin de göreyim" diye bağırmış.
No one dared.
Onların hiçbiri kimse cesaret etmedi edememiş.
Penny picked up a twig and threw it at the edge of the forest.
Penny ince bir dal alıp onu ormanın kenarına fırlattı fırlatmış.
Nothing happened.
Hiçbir şey olmadı olmamış.
Penny was astonished.
Penny şaşırıp kalmış.
It’s all a legend!

We can play hide and seek in the woods if we want, she thought.

She walked slowly towards the woods.
Ormana karşı yavaş yürüyordu doğru yavaşça yürümüş.
It was getting colder and colder she took each step.
Penny adım attıkça hava (this part is correct but..) soğuklaşıyordu.
Penny´nin attığı her adımda hava daha da soğuyormuş. (better)
She walked right into the middle of the forest.
Tam ormanin ortasına yürüdü yürümüş. (correct but..)
Ormanın tam ortasına kadar yürümüş. (better)
