Merhaba,

Why when someone knock at the door Turkish people will say kim o?

The way I have been learning in my books is that you ask bu kim? şu Kim or o Kim. Why starting with Kim?

I know it´s not very important but I am curious about it.

Thanks.

Because you don´t see the person visually by saying "Kim O?".

You say "Bu Kim?" You see the person physically or you may point the person and ask şu kim , oradaki kim?

Oradaki means over there, the person who stays over there...

O kim? = Who´s that guy (over there)? "O" is subject

Kim o? = who is it? "Kim" is the subject

That said, when someone knocks the door we always use the second one. The first one doesn´t sound good for that purpose.
