After a long year of learning Turkish in Tömer, I will be returning back to America for my summer vacation. I have missed New York very much and missed the culture of the city. I miss my family and friends as well but I miss the feeling of the city much more since Eskisehir is very small and does not have the lively feeling of New York. When I return home, I will walk the streets of Manhattan and hear the loud noises of cars and people yelling because I could not feel this in Eskisehir. I will spend the Ramadan and Eid holiday in New York but after the holidays, my family and I will travel to Somalia to meet with my dad and the rest of my family. I have been to Somalia once before during the last summer and it was an amazing experience. My father wanted my family to join him in Somalia so we can help him during his “campaign” for the Somalia government. After our stay in Somalia we will go to London for my cousin’s wedding. In Somalia tradition, it is very important that most of the family comes to the wedding and since our family is very big, there will be a lot of people coming. After my time in London, I will say goodbye to family and head back to turkey for my first semester of school. As little as this time may seem, it will be spent very well.
