This trip would take ages!
Note that the train from Thessaloniki-Greece to Istanbul(if you go by car it is 5-6 hours driving) takes,in the best case, 12 hours. It took me 14 hours last time :-S

Quoting susie k:

Thankyou! Il look into it! I've got my driving test in 2 weeks if I pass I may drive! We had such a turbulant flight last time my hubbys refusing to ever get on a plane again!

I ve seen long car "caravans" going to Turkia through the Greek Egnatia Road and I ve also driven to Turkey many times. The road till the greek-turkish borders is good, except from one or two parts that are not finished yet. But after the borders and till a little before Istanbul, you ll have to deal with a straight but very bad road, which is under construction now.

If you are a new driver, I suggest that you shouldn't attempt such a long and tiring trip.

Oww.. I also had a lot of turbulence once.. and I already was dead-scared of planes! But I keep forcing myself to get in there.. basically because I so desperately want to meet my friends in Turkey again.. but if I could choose I would never every go on a plane again lol

If you think about driving after you passed your test (EEEEKKKKK!) you will need to make sure that a new driver is OK to drive through all the countries you would need to pass through and there might be age limits for foriegn drivers too (so know idea how old you are so no offence ment!) Good luck!
