Hello. What is the difference between Afedersin and Uzgunum? Many thanks

my thoughts

afferdersiniz (from the verb affetmek)

means: (will you) excuse me, I beg your pardon.

It can be used to get someones attention, to squeeze past someone (like when exiting crowded public transport when people are standing in the way)

üzgünüm (from the noun üzgün)

means: I am sorry (about something) I am sad (at hearing/seeing something) It is sometimes used as an apology for doing something wrong, or that might have upset/angered someone

My Turkish teacher said that both are fine, but if you don´t know the person you are talking to, then I think afferdersiniz would be better. Wait for a native speaker to add their opinion.

That is very accurate Henry. I have to add a small detail to clarify Hristina´s question. ´Affedersin´ is informal, you say it to people who you are familiar with. ´Affedersiniz´ is more formal.
