Hi

I want to know how to interpret a message from a man I have a flirty friendship relationship. with. He wrote "Merhaba canim" to me.

He knows that I find him attractive and I know he thinks I´m attractive. We´re just friends. but I hope for a bit more. Both are singles.

Thank you!

It means "Hello dear" . I wouldn´ t put much price on it.. it´ s something usual.. Some ( most of) turks like to say big words without a real feeling conected to it

Hadi canım!* I am not Turk if what you are saying is true. {#emotions_dlg.confused} well, I´m joking .. Anyway, I agree with you that one can call another canım even when not feeling love for..

* hadi canım! => you must be kidding; you can´t be serious

Merhaba canim - it´s often used more casually than hello darling. But, it´s possible it has some meaning behind it.

 Hadi canım!*

English are worse... they exceed in using with anyone : darling, dear, love...  Once in England I felt very embarrassed when a man said to me "darling". So.. depends on your culture...

Hey!

Thank you all for answers.

I have understand that the word canim can mean different thing`s depends of who you say it to, and if you say it in person or if writing it. Have I understood correctly?

So you think he called me darling?

He have called me cutie to my face repeatedly and he has just started to call me babe sometimes when he send me a message.

We have known each other for about five months now but only met in person for three weeks.

I can not get my head around him.

He says, "We´ll always be best friends" but we don`t have that kind of a friendship.

It is flirty between us.

What do you think?

Would appreciate an answer!
