Hi all

I got confused with this sentence grammer

"O herkesin hoşuna gitti grammer"

why did we put a "in" for "herkes", what does it express ??

can you please explain the grammer in that sentence ??

which one is the subject ?? "O" or "Herkes"

When using "hoşuna gitmek", the subject is the thing that is liked whereas the object is the one doing the liking. Furthermore, the object (i.e. the one doing the liking) is ALWAYS in genitive form. It is similar to "X is to my liking" in English. Here is an example:

"Bu masa benim hoşuma gidiyor." - "I like this table."

Subject: "Bu masa" (this table), Object: "ben" (I) in genitive form "benim" (my)

So in your sentence, the one who is liked, or the subject is "o" (him/her/it) and the one who does the liking is "herkes" (everyone).
