What is the difference between önce and evvel when used with the -meden (or -mezden) suffix?
Is there a difference between these two sentences?
içmeden önce yemem istiyorum
içmeden evvel yemem istiyorum
I want to eat before I drink

Yes - of course it is "yemek" - silly me I was thinking of the sentence structure for "yemem lazım" instead!!!
If they are the same, is one more common than the other?

They pretty much mean the same thing, but "once" is a more modern way of saying "evvel". It's the same difference as saying "Previously" and "Before".

it means the same
the difference is "önce" is a real turkish word and "evvel"is an arabic word.. that differences with same meanings exist because of the language spoken at the ottoman empire time which consists of arabic persian and turkish
