Quoting sophie: Quoting MrX67: what about in winters?? |
Winters are also soft here. If we see snow we run out like crazy to play, as it is so rare for us. Temperature rarely touches zero during hard winter. But Salonica's best season is Autumn. I fall in love with this city over and over again each sonbahar... |
Sounds like fun Sophie... our winters are just as brutal as our summers... 2 to 3 metres of snow and cold, cold, cold! Around -20ºC most days...
Can't wait to leave!

It's been one of the worst summer's here in the U.S. as I can remember. The average has been 95 degrees. I don't want to go outside and do anything. Just sit in my air conditioned house and veg. I believe it's the Greenhouse Effect.

I doubt whether humankind has hundred years to survive. We usually listen to global heating as an old fashioned news, but I think it is quite serious. I have become to get worried because usually it has been the climate that ends a species.

It is so true. Governments should have listened to scientists decades ago, but unfortunately there is too much money involved and the worst culprits (USA) are still doing NOTHING to reduce emissions from factories and cars. Even a year ago, people who talked of global warming were seen as eco-warriors and scare-mongers. The world is suddenly waking up to the fact that we are destroying the planet, but it is FAR TOO LATE .
The saddest thing for me is seeing the affect on plants and animals - they are the innocent victims of our pollution. For example, polar bears are having to move to areas further south now because of the melting ice-caps and for the past two years have been living in areas they have never been seen in before, in environments they are unsuited to . Our Earth will never be harmonious again and all we can do is watch the changes and wish....

Incidently - recent news here has been that air travel will soon return to an elitist form of travel because governments will be forced to tax air fares to such a degree that it will be unaffordable to most people.
This is because aircraft produce more pollution than just about anything else!! You would need to drive your car constantly for one year to try an equal the same emissions into the atmosphere that your holiday flight to Turkey caused! Get to Turkey quick guys!! In about 5 years time we will have to cruise or walk there haha!
