Yes I can confuse people often...
I am going away on September 5th, and I want to email this person the day before I go away, so I've put that date in advance.

I think she means that he rfamily already booked a holiday to Greece two years ago (they booked in advance, so in 2004).. and she says september 4th because that is the day that she wants to send the letter
