another one of the powerful hands of Turkish Poetry

Sen Yokken (When you werent here)

Sen yokken gittim
when you werent here, i went
Korkularımın üstüne
over my fears
Hiç ardıma bakmadım
i never looked behind
Gümüş şiirler yazdım sen yokken
silver poems, i wrote when you werent here
Çok yangın çıktı yüreğimde
lots of fires i had in my heart
Küllerini bile savurmadım
didnt even throw its ashes away
Irak denizlerin fırtınasıydım
was the storm of far seas
Uzak iklimlerin sert rüzgarları
was hard winds of the far climates
Kulaçlarken denizinde gurbeti
while swimming a foreign place in your sea
Kanlı savaşlarım,
my bloody wars
Belalı sevdalarım olmadı hiç
troublesome affairs, didnt ever exist
Ama hep sustum,
though, i always kept silence,
Hep ağladım, hep yandım sen yokken.
always cried, always burned when you were not here
Bekliyorum dönüşÃ¼nü yeniden,
waiting for your return again,
Bir gelsen,
Oh, you come
Hayatın önünden alsan beni
and take me infront of life
Bir gelsen,
Oh, you come
Sellerin önünden alsan beni
and take me infront of floods
Bir gelsen,
Oh you come
Ölümlü düşlerimden alsan beni.
and take me from my mortal dreams

Çok durdum güneşe karşı bir başıma
many times i standed against to sun alone
Savrulurdum rüzgarlarında sensizlik denizinin
was scattered in the winds of the sea "being with you"
Sen yokken,
when you were not here
Az dolaşmadım gönlümün kuytularında
walked many times in the depth of my heart
ÃœşÃ¼yen karanfilim şimdi buruşuk parmaklarda
my trembling clove is now on bruised fingers
Bir kırağı ayazıydım gecenin kollarında
was a frost cold in night's arms
Zifirlerinde sadece ben üşÃ¼rdüm.
in their darknesses only me got cold
Hiç aldırmadım esen rüzgara
never cared the wind blowing
Hiç dinlenmiş bir yürekle çıkmadım ortaya
never appeared with a rested heart
Yinede hiç yıkılmadım giden trenlerin ardından
even though never got ruined after going trains
Ama bütün yangınlar beni yaktı önce
however every fires burned me before
Hep ortasında kaldım vurgunların
always stayed in the middle of bends
Vurgun nedir ki? deme
what bend is? dont ask
Bir babanın serzenişi nasılsa öyle
as how a fathers reproaches
Bayrakları indirilmiş,
its flags were taken down
Bozguna uğramış bir hisardım sen yokken
a defeated castle i was when you were not here
Hep sustum,
always kept silence
Hep yandım, hep ağladım sen yokken.
always burned, always cried when you were not here
Bir gelsen,
oh you come
Yangınlardan alsan beni,
and take me from fires
Bir gelsen,
oh you come
Dünyalarımdan alsan beni,
and take me from my worlds
Bir gelsen,
of you come
Şafaksız gecelerden alsan beni,
and take me from the nights have no dawn
Ama ne zaman gelsen,
though whenever you come
Akşam kızılı gözlerimle bulacaksın beni
will find me with the evening red eyes

Hi Sui,
Check the stick thread on top of this forum section. We can add your poem translations if you are interested. There are a few simple formal requirements. Cheers.

hello erdinc,

welcome first of all, i am actually interested in that, but i am not sure if i am doing it good or correct, thats abit confuses me, if they are ok
i will be doing them after moving my new house...
right now just making translations and keeping them as an online source "here" is easy
