Merhaba Canse,

I'm new to the language also... my fiance is turkish so I must learn too... although his english has improved 150% since I have known him.

But I am still keen to learn

Try the learn turkish section on here.... read the introduction and print off all the lessons....

I started learning the vowel harmony first.... and I found it so so difficult to get to grips with.... then suddenly, after a long long study period last night.... I ACTUALLY GOT IT....EUREKA !!!!!!

Finally I understand the vowel harmony rule... now I can go onto the next lesson.....

Really... I have been trying to teach myself Turkish the wrong way for so long... then discovered this website... now Im learning it all the correct way and Im learning so fast.

Determination and patience will keep you going.... It does for me..

GO ON.... TRY IT !!!

and the forums will also help you if you get stuck...Post a question and you will get help.... you always do

GOOD LUCK

JOANNE

Hi Canse,
When I just went to Turkey and picked up a few words it seemed so easy. My friend Anna Maria lived there and is fluent. She said she has done all the grammar properly and at times threw the book across the room in despair.

Last week I felt so good because I knew my case endings and some tenses. Today I feel as if I know nothing.

I think the answer is to learn slowly and well. Then treat yourself to a holiday in Turkey and pick it up from the experts, the Turkish people.

You can book Turkish lessons in Turkey probably Istanbul if you wanted.

Thankyou, I am glad I am not the only one struggling
Good luck
Jo-Anne
