bisikletin and bisikletlerin

hi all,

i'm using the Rosetta Stone level 1 and i just encountered these 2 sentences:

bisikletin üstünde bir oğlan

bisikletlerin üstünde adamlar

i know it's supposed to tell me about plurals (oğlan c.f. adamlar), but i don't understand what's with the "bisiklet", the first one added the "in" and the second one added "lerin"...am i parting them the wrong way? plz help me!!

It's how defining where something is positioned is constructed.
The first one means "there is a guy on the bike", the second one "there are men on the bikes"
To make this kind of construction, you always have to add a possessive suffix, "-in" in this case.
Here you will find the theory about that kind of construction.

thank you Elisa, i think i know what it means now..."ler" is the plural suffix, i somehow misplaced it...lol thx alot!!!

Thx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hi I am not so good but if it does not mean the possive pronoun-Your it could mean in as in the genitive case meaning belonging to. Therefore it would mean The boy on his bike and the men on their bikes. Hope this may help...it make s sense to me but I am not sure. Cheers Jo-Anne][/]
