Could anyone tell me please more about the military service in Turkiye?
At what age, generally, are men recruited?
Is the army as difficult/tough as they say?
What happens during the 15 months of "askerlik"?

Men start doing their military service duty at the age of twenty. It takes fifteen months (first three months is the basic training), if you are not university graduated. If you are it is either six months (as a private, corporal or sergant) or twelve months (as a first lieutenant). Its toughness depends on the post and place the person has been appointed as it is in any army in the world. It might be tough or not that tough. That does not mean it is lax. It is well disciplined in any case.
