Merhaba

This may seem a strange question but is the Engagement finger the same in turkey?

Also, is a Promise Ring the same as an Engagement Ring?

Thanks everyone.

I have heard that engagement ring is right hand, and when you are married, left hand.

As far as I know, in the Turkish culture, there are no promise rings or they are one of the same as an engagement ring. Turkish males and females wear their wedding ring on their right hand, not left.

There are two rings related to marriage in Turkey, one of them is promise ring used before engagement (On right hand). Engagement ring is called as 'alyans' and worn on right hand during the engagement and after wedding it is worn on left hand.

Promise ring is optional, but alyans is a must. Beside these two rings, usually a singe diamond ring is given to the bride at engagement ceremony.

Is it enough girls

The woman wears the engagment ring on her right hand and the man wears his on the left so that when you hold hands they are together, quite sweet i think

Who does this? I haven't heard it before.

As said, a promise ring is optional. But if you're engaged, you wear rings on the right hand. And when you're married, you wear on the left in Turkey.

PS: Some of the turkish people (not many) prefer not to wear the ring on the left hand because of religious reasons...
