"boyfriend" and "male friend"

i looked it up and found boyfriend=erkek arkadaş
then what about "male friend"? what do i say when i want to express the idea of a male friend?
and if i said "oğlan arkadaş", what would a native Turk think of it? boyfriend or male friend?

I think that you could just use 'arkadaşim' for male or female friends. You would usually say - arkadaşim serkan or arkadaşim fatima for instance, i.e. they would get the sex of your friend by their name. I only every use arkadaşim for male or female friends in Turkey and no-one has corrected me so far - perhaps they are too polite!  If I am wrong here could someone please correct me too.

"oğlan arkadaş" doesn't exist in Turkish. "Oğlan" has become uncommon with time. On the other hand it has some secondary meanings that have become more common. It means "young gay man". If you were a male and would call another male "oğlan arkadaşım" it is very likely to be understood as your gay partner.
"oğlancı" means pederast.
There is no exact term for male friends who are not a boyfriend.
