Global warming is happening much faster than predicted and catastrophic changes are now likely to happen THIS CENTURY (including the loss of major cities), and still USA are doing nothing about it...
"For more than a year, the BBC has invited the US government to give its view on safe levels of CO2. Our request is repeatedly passed between the White House office of the Council on Environmental Quality and the office of the US chief scientist."

It is my opinion that in the UK, global warming will actually severely decrease temperatures......although sea levels will rise causeing loss of land mass.
Bear in mind that Canada is at the same latitude as the UK and in Canada there are polar bears - if the gulf stream (a current of warm sea water that propagates north from close to the equator) were to be cut off then the UK would be plunged into severe cold for much of the year. As the gulf steam relies on the balance of temperature change throughout the year, getting it cut off by climatic change is a very real possibility.

Yes, I believe this too Bod. Its only the Gulf Stream that keeps us mild.
Incidently, well done Arnold Schwarzenegger! (Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd say!). He has just made California the FIRST state in the USA to bring legislation to cut "green house" gas emissions.
The trouble is, its all a bit too little, too late...

No apologies for returning to this subject again, which is close to my heart
Richard Branson has today announced that he will commit ALL profits from his travel companies to fighting global warming and investment in alternative fuels. WELL DONE RICHARD!!!
Shame on ALL global leaders (particularly all the capitalist west leaders) who have ignored this problem for too long. Shame on them that it takes a private business man to seriously address this issue and take action. History will record how they sat back and did nothing while our planet died...

I dont know if this film has been released worldwide, but there is a brilliant documentary on global warming by Al Gore (the man who actually won the 2000 US Presidental election....ohhhhh but do NOT get me started on that!!!!)....anyway, the movie is called 'An Inconvenient Truth', which is also available in book form. I highly recommend it to everyone.
You can read more about it here -

This is a subject close to my heart and I feel that USA is not doing anything to help.
Bush has one rule for them and one rule for everyone else.
