About the word özlemek... can I use this in Turkish for both meanings of the English verb "to miss"? I mean:

I miss you (I'm sad because you're not here).

I missed your call (You called, and I wasn't home, so we didn't talk).

Same verb in Turkish?

No.

First one may or may not imply being sad. Usually it means "I wish you were here".

Second one. Definetely no. Hard to find an exact translation , so it seems to me. Your explaination would be better one and you can omit the second part in a clear context.
Aramışsın (ama evde yoktum).
