I think those of us who have had children will find these customs very strange (non-Turkish that is!)

I had cravings for cooking apples, black cherry yoghurt and gooseberries and I had boys.

We have a guess at the sex of the child by how the baby is being carried. At the front a girl, spread around a boy. But again I carried one out the front and looked like a beached whale and the other more spread out.

When I say spread out I mean if you look at a woman from the back you see her waist. Carry the baby at the front and you still see her waist, spread all around the waist has gone!

Hope you understand.

I just read the bit about not getting out of bed for 40 days!! Is this true? I had cesareans and I got out bed the same day! I was driving a car a week later and doing exercises to get my stomach muscles back in shape!

Not exactly not getting out of bed for 40 days, but kind of having lots of rest, and take it easy for 40 days
Their work in the house is not easy, so they just don't over do it,and don't do the usual the things that required from them and got some help doing them
But they ofcourse get out of bed
