I know this may sound rather stupid, but by going to turkey. I went to turkey for one week and I decided to learn the language and I did. This may not be useful but I am just saying how I learnt it. I have been known to learn languages very quickly but I don't know where I get it from because none of my family do.
I think it depends on how quickly your mind adjusts to learning different languages. What might help is to go on to the chat room when people are speaking tukish and ask them if they mind translating what they said into english, that way you can learn the basic things in a conversation.
I am not sure if this has helped but like people say, everyone learns in different ways!
good luck with learning turkish (happy to help)

i don't think that's stupid at all. if u immerse yourself in the language (i.e. by going to the country where it is spoken) then u will definitely pick it up quicker.
i speak french too and i remember when i went to france, in a few days i was able to easily think in french and speak it with no problems.

There are many Turkish channels on the Internet. Have you tried any?
For example I use the following one when I am abroad:
http://www.trt.net.tr/wwwtrt/anasayfa.aspx
There is a "Live" button, click on it and there you go.
