Merhaba!
Can someone help me. I am visiting my Turkish boyfriend in November and want him to come to visit me in January. However, although he has a passport, he says it will be a problem to come to me as he needs a visa? Is this right. He says I need to go with him to the Consulate in Istambul to ask for a visa for him. Is this necessary just for a holiday?
Many thanks for any advice you can give me...
Tesekkür ederim xx

Browse through the forums and you will find answers to your questions. You can also read Lyndie's essays on this topic in the essay-section of this website.
I'm afraid that it will be really tough for your boyfriend to come to UK. He won't only need his passport, he needs to proof he has enough in Turkey to go back to (to assure he wont try to stay in England), he has to have a covering insurance if I'm notmistaken, and quite a lot of money in his bank account. It's not necessary for you to come with him to the consulate, but it might smooth up things. You could write him a rather official invitation lette rin which you invite him over for a holiday with you in England and that you promise to cover up for all costs in case anything goes wrong (accident etc.) I twould be smart to send 2 or 3 payslips of yours along with it.
I don't know your age, but if you're too young ot have a proper well paid job, you should ask one of your parents to write this letter and send their payslips..
I wish you good luck.

Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't think it would be so complicated. I do have a well paid job so the letter shouldn't be a problem. I will look at other forums for more suggestions..
Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me

You're welcome!
Btw, I didn't mean to be rude about your age/job, but just trying to say that me being 18 and my payslips from the parttime job as a waitress I had, wouldn't really impress the embassy But I guess you understood that

Not at all. No offence taken. I really appreciate your help. Like I said, I had hoped it would be as simple as just booking a flight but I might have known it wouldn't be...
Take care
