So what do you think of the new Survivor? Do you think by splitting the teams up by ethnic groups has any advantages or disadvantages? I'm thinking those who speak another language could have an advantage when they merge tribes.

I hadn't thought of the language issue but I definitely agree. I know there has been an uproar in the US about the ethnic separation but the show has always been a social experiment. Personally, I don't view it any differently than I did when they separated by sex or age and I think it is just another sign that we have a long way to go because so much has been said about this particular division of groups.

i think thats a dirty media show for the make higher the watching rating, and i believe it will make more some ethnical prejudices.i hope watchers would be aware of thats only a trip of media, for don't be a toy of their sailly aims...rivalary is good when serves to more friendship, but thats a big danger when makes to more angers..

I saw a bit of it when I was travelling once - sort of a cross between "celebrity get me out of here" and Lost. It was a lot of pretty girls and young fellas and the programme maker hope that some of them get it together, so to speak.

Quoting libralady: It was a lot of pretty girls and young fellas |
I can think of lots of worse things to be doing that looking at cute boys and cute girls But I am sure it is better done in real life than using a television!!!

As you can tell I'm a tv reality buff. However I'm also an avid reader, typically two books a week. However, for some reason I enjoy reality tv. These people aren't paid what actor's or actresses make, their just ordinary people. I guess it takes me into a different reality, than the every day norm of things. I enjoy the competitive edge it brings. I believe life is a competition. Whether your competing in a sport, job etc.. Hard to explain, I guess. Just like people have addictions to the internet, mine is reality tv.

The previous Survivor in Greece, was between greeks only. They started as a happy company, going after some adventure and they ended up "digging each other's hole" for a banana or a glass of water. It was a disgusting program.
This time, it's gonna be between Greeks and Turks. I got the feeling that it's gonna be even more disgusting. I m sure that every nationalist in both countries will love to watch it. So many negative messages will pass through this program and this is the last thing these two nations need. :-S

well said by dear Sophie mou,
it was really sad to see those nationalist comments by the challengers...
i hope they dont see it as an independence war...
quotes from programme:
pantelis from greek team:
"a greek cant go to greece after losing a game to a turk"
"if a turk wins this game, s/he will be second ataturk"
on the other hand:
another greek participant said: (as an answer to the question of representative "how would it be if turk wins?")
reply:
"what changes if a turk or greek wins, who plays best will win"
they didnt show during programme personal comments of turks about greek people...
though their thoughts were on the way of represnting Turkey... but the only aim of the competion is to earn that 250.000 euros, they kinda forget it...
anyway we will see what it will make... but its not that popular on media recently...
however, personally, i would like to live in those islands
