The verb ''hoşuna gitmek'' I don't understand!

Hi all,
I just found this and I had never seen it before :
"Bu çay benim çok hoşuma gitti.
Bu çay senin çok hoşuna gitti.
Bu çay onun çok hoşuna gitti.
Bu çay bizim çok hoşumuza gitti.
Bu çay sizin çok hoşunuza gitti.
Bu çay onların çok hoşlarına gitti
What kind of verb is that and why is the conjugation this way? Please , could someone explain this to me?
I'd be very grateful as usual.

We sometimes use 3rd person + possessive suffixes when we talk about ourselves. In that case possessive suffix is used to express the person. That's one similar example of it but with some more.
Examples:
Baş-ım ağrıyor (lit. My head is aching) -- I have got a headache
Kafa-m karıştı (lit. My head is confused) -- I am confused
Karn-ım aç (lit. My stomach is hungary) -- I am hungary
So
Hoş-um-a gitti (lit. it went to my liking) -- I like it
But in this you can use the main verb (git-mek) with the other persons as well.
Hoş-um-a gidiyor-sun (lit. You are going to my liking) -- I like you
Hoş-unuz-a gitti-k mi? (lit. Did we go to your liking?) -- Did you like us?
Hoş-umuz-a gidiyor-sunuz (lit. You go to our liking) -- We like you
etc.

You use forms like this alot in a matter of speaking?

yes... sevmek and beğenmek is also used same as "to like", so, if you dont want to use hoşuna gitmek, you may use the others with attention.
Bu şarkı çok hoşuma gitti = Bu şarkıyı çok sevdim = Bu şarkıyı çok beğendim
I like this song.

And Dilara can you explain us, why in Spanish, you use: me gusta
te gusta
le gusta
You say "me gusta" for third person, but you are talking about "I" (yo), why not yo gusto?
I think this is something like that.
Me gusta: hoşuma gidiyor
te gusta: hoşuna gidiyor
as you see always gusta, or gustan for plural. And in Turkish, we say
"benim hoşuma gidiyor", "senin hoşuna gidiyor"
always "gidiyor", like your "gusta".
Also it can be gidiyor and gidiyorlar both for plural, like your gustan.
I think you can get it rapida mas?

Thanks a lot Aslan2 (your explanation clarify all my doubts about this verb and how it was used ) and you! (always so helpful) your explanations are always highly appreciated and I got it right away although the construction " Hoş-um-a gitti (lit. it went to my liking) -- I like it " sounds very strange and odd to me I mean not logical " I went to my liking" but...this is turkish!!
Caliptrix when you compared español with turkish I got what you mean...this " me gusta" construction must be difficult for you but do you want me to explain this to you? I think your spanish is good to be a beginner but what you wrote "I think you can get it rapida mas?" is :
" Pienso que lo puedes entender más rápidamente"
Pienso = I think
que tú lo puedes entender = that you can get it (understand it)
más rápidamente = Faster
("más" can be translated as "er) in english e.g :
"Tu casa :your house
Es más grande ": is biggER
Thus :
Nicer = más agradable
Prettier = más bonito and so on...

I see. Let me add something then it may not sound that strange.
Gitmek (to go) also means to suit.
Bana gider (lit. it goes to me) -- it suits to me.
Maybe you can think of it this way:
hoşuma gitti (lit. it suited to my liking) -- I liked it

Yes. In many places. The thing is Turkish possessive suffixes are very handy. So they are preferred in many usages and the grammatical person is expressed by using the possessive suffixes.
Here are some well known cases again:
1- To have
bir ev var -- there is an house
bir ev-im var (lit. there is an house of mine) -- I have an house
hiç para yok -- there is not any money
hiç para-m yok (lit. there is not my money) -- I don't have any money
2- Infinitive
gitmek gerek -- to go is necessary (it's necessary to go)
gitme-m gerek -- my going is necessary (it's necessary for me to go) or I need to go
Have you noticed? This example has some parallels with English
It's necessary for me to go (I need to go)
Here also the 3rd person is used to speak about myself
etc.

Evet aslan, çok tşk,
My understanding for başım ağrıyor,
That i am talking about the third person usage because it is a third person.
İt sound wierd,but that is how it was explained to me
İ am saying ,my head is hurting me İngilizce
Ama,
Türkçede, we say my head hurting.
So i am talking about a thing,'o' which is my head,and it is hurting,not talking about me.!!!
İ know ,sound wierd,but its how it is !
When my head is hurt,it is a result that i am hurt,but we say,my head hurting 'third person usage'
