Turkish Sailors around 1900's

My great grandfather was a Turkish sailor, who met my great grandmother in London. She got pregnant and he left. Not sure at what point and even if he knew about it. Anyway my grandmother was born in 1903 with no father.

My question is where would Turkish sailors have come from, i.e. which port and where would they more than likely have lived.

Is there anyway of looking up ships from Turkey to London? I can narrow down the ships passage to about July 1902.

If anyone was wondering I am researching my family history.

Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Was he in military? If so probably you can only find it from the Turkish Navy Military records/archive which probably not easy to find...

I would have thought more likely to be a merchant seaman.

If so maybe you can ask to Turkish Maritime Agency (Whatever its called in English).

There is an email address over there to ask: bilgi@tdi.gov.tr
Altough I believe that it is very hard to find, you lose nothing by trying . I can try to help to translate your letter, question to turkish if you need.
