I am not sure about the amount of the money but it may be true, because if you don't have driver licence, that means you are unjustified/guilty. So you have to pay all the damage and the punishment.

By the way, not everyone is honest, and 600 YTL is a very big money to lend. If you don't know him, don't give such a big money.

If this person is just a new friend they wouldn't ask you to lend them so much money.

Is it your fault that they drove without a licence ...no.
My advice for what it is worth is to steer clear.
I am not in Turkey but know of such scams

At the end of the day it is your choice..think long and hard
Sorry to be so stern ...Jo_Anne

merhaba Amz
I agree 600 ytl is alot of money to ask from such a 'new' friend. It would be very rude and untrue to ask someone you have not known for that long time to ask for so much money.
I advise you to say I am sorry I do not have that kind of money. If he is a true friend he will accept that you can not give him that much money, if not then he is very rude and not a friend at all!
I know I would not ask a friend for that much money especially if I have not known them for that long.

Good Luck with your choice and your friendsship

This friend should be ashamed of himself to ask you for this amount of money and you hardly know them. Don't let them take advantage of your nice nature My advice... DO NOT LEND THEM THE MONEY....

If you decide to lend this person money, don't expect to see it again. So if you can afford to give away money, then go for it.

Dont lend anyone any money. Alarm bells ring for me too. I have read so many stories on other sites where women have "lent" money, never to see it or the fella again. One women lost over £20,000 and she had been with him a few years. It went through the Turkish courts but as far as I know not a penny was retrieved.

Bit of a cheek

The friendship could turn bitter over this, but I would decline and see the result.

I do not think I could decline and not feel a bit guilty, but you need to know if this is a true friend, if it is then he will understand.

Good luck

Some well known quotes on the subject:-
Neither a borrower nor a lender be.
A loan oft loseth itself and friend.
Borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
