have seen this one earlier, was laughing when watching again aaand there should some more similar ads, promoting ColaTurka etc at least i've come across

After reading this thread, I showed this to my students as I was teaching the fall of the Roman Empire, and the shift of Rome to "new Rome" by the emperors Diocletian and Constantine...

They loved the catchy song, and we critiqued the cartoon. The stereotypes of "Turks"- mustaches, swords, deserts, riding camels etc... and Turkish women.. alluring/ veiled... objectified TOTALLY!


It led to a great discussion. So many American students have a limited "Disney" view of the world, and do not realize how damaging and limiting these stereotypical views are...

just some thoughts...
