Hello! Would someone answer the question I am about to ask on the subject Reported Speech, please? If someone answers, I will be grateful.

Are the rules of Reported Speech still valid when I transfer one's word in different language to the third person by English? Does the tense in which a sentence is made change, for example? Supposing that one says in Turkish, "Zaman akıyor."(Time is flying.) and I transfer this word to the third person by English. Which one would be correct,-"He/She said that time IS flying." or "He/She said that time WAS flying."?

We can then consider the word "Zaman akıyor" as if it were said in English exactly like "Time is flying" first; and next, we can put the rules related to the subject into practice as we have been always doing, because the sample statements you have given as specific and general are within probable situations to be tought to us by grammer books. In sum, the rules of Reported Speech are valid in any case.
