HI,

burun-nose
ağız-mouth

but

O burnuna dokunuyor. He touched (to) his nose.
O ağzına dokunuyor. He touched (to) his mouth.

i guess it's about the vowel dropping rule, which i know nothing about except when adding tense suffixes...can anyone tell me a little bit more on this topic?

THANKS A MILLION!!!!!!

I can give just a few examples.

şehir: city

Şehrimiz çok güzel.

fikir: idea

Bu fikrinize katılmıyorum.

ömür: lifetime

Ömrümden bir gün daha geçti...

They are originally Arabic words.

We have some words (most of them are our organ names) which drop their second vowel when used with some suffixes.

Burun -- Burnum
ız -- Ağzım
Karın -- Karnım
Omuz -- Omzum
Göğüs -- Göğsüm
Alın -- Alnım
Gönül -- Gönlüm
Beniz -- Benzim
Koyun -- Koynum
Beyin -- Beynim
ul -- Oğlum

Koyun is isteresting. We have 2 words that are homonyms
1. Koyun -- Sheep (this one doesn't drop its vowel)
Koyunum -- my sheep
2. Koyun -- Bosom, Breast (this one does)
Koynum -- my bosom

The second one is shown as "Koyun, -ynu" in my dictionary. So when you learn these kind of words you have to memorize them.
