Perge
Perge
Perge city has two main columned streets. First road is starting at the southern gate and extending to the acropolis, the other one vertically intersecting the first road in the direction of east-west.
Along the central axis of the columned roads there are two uncovered water canals which were barred with cross-walls at intervals of 7.5m both to facilitate the cleaning works and to adjust the water flow rate. The water is conveyed from the hills to the western gate and it was branched to the districts near the southern gate and then to the reservoir on the hill of acropolis and from this reservoir it was provided to the monumental nymphaion (fountain ) on the slope of the hill and as a last it was distributed from this fountain to the canals on the roads.
