Sultan Abdul Hamid II in his 20s and in his 70s.
Abdul Hamid commissioned thousands of photographs of the Ottoman empire providing visual description of many aspects of the empire. The sultan presented large gift albums of photographs to various governments and heads of state.

Sultan Abdul Hamid II (September 21, 1842 – February 10, 1918) was the sultan of the Ottoman Empire, from August 31, 1876 – April 27, 1909.
