Herkese Merhaba,

Burada hiç kuş görülmez

No birds are seen here.

Is it correct to say
Burada hiç kuş görünmiyor

If not, why? I looked up the word "görünmek" in dictionary and it is translated as "be seen".

Quoting HaydiDeer

Herkese Merhaba,

Burada hiç kuş görülmez

No birds are seen here.

Is it correct to say
Burada hiç kuş görünmiyor

If not, why? I looked up the word "görünmek" in dictionary and it is translated as "be seen".

görülmek = be seen (passive voice)

görünmek = make oneself seen (reflexive voice)

göründüm = I have shown up, I showed up (I have made myself seen), I appeared, etc.

görüldüm = I have be seen (by somebody) or I was seen

That said,

Burada hiç kuş görünmüyor seems OK to me

No birds make themselves seen here,

No birds show up here, or equally

No birds are seen here

Burada hiç kuş görülmüyor can be translated as

No birds are seen here

You cannot see any birds here
