Dear friends, I am trying to rent or purchase a small flat in Turkey ... I often come accross phrasese like:-
ısınma tipi, yakıt tipi, yapi tipi >>>>>>>>>>> what does the word ´Tipi´ mean. In a dictionary it means ´Snow storm, Blizzard´ ????????

type=tip They are talking about heating system of flat..what kınd of flat you think??

yes. tipi is a kind of snow: the heavy sort.
But here it is tip, with a possessive ending i, i.e. tip-i
tip means type or kind of or sort
ısınma: heating
ısınma tipi: type of heating
yakıt: fuel
yakıt tipi: type of fuel
yapı: building
yapı tipi: type of building
etc

I gathered as much ´intuitively´ ... and being an absolute ´Dim Bulb´, I lament my ignorance not to have realised that the final ´i´ is a ´zamir´ and not part of the word itself. Ne Yazik. Live & Learn!!!
