..70 % muslims get islam wrong. islam for them means only covering up and praying..so i cannot blame you to think like that it is our own fault

İ agree with you cıko,not all people who pray and wear scarves are good people
They can do that and lie
And its not only in İslam, but in every religion.
But i guess that percentage is not right tho

No, drinking is not forbidden at all. But getting drunk is. The Bible says be drunk on the Spirit (Holy Spirit) and not on alcohol. If you are filled with the Spirit you will be overjoyed anyway.

Using your own words, Canlı, you are not in the desert so if you don't know, go to a Church or a priest/vicar and ask. I have studied much about İslam, spoken to many people and my neighbours brother is a İslamic lecturer in university, so no I don't know it all, but I certainly try to educate myself even though I am not a muslim. I feel it is important to know much about another faith or culture.

I think sometimes, I feel fed up with being lecturer to about what people here think is right but when they quote my own faith, Christianity, but when it comes down to facts, many don't know much about it.

in love and respect
Cacık

Cacık,
İ admire that you want to learn even that you are not muslim.
You are welcome to ask anytime, and we will always be glad to answer you.
As i said i wasn't talking to you personally,i was adressing people who knows and argue in facts
İn another words,i was talking to Muslim people,if you have an issue and you are arguing about it in Christianity between another Christian one,you are not a Holy man,so you should go and ask a Holy man, right ?
AS when we have some differences on some Math ratio or something,we take it to the Math teacher.
So,this topic was been discussed here many times before, and thread was closed,so the best thing is for parties to take it the teacher, ask and then come and continue debating.

So that was not for you at all.

Again, you have my admiration and respect

İ dont undestand even the question MrX,
İts strange too.
Who said religions 'ALL religions' dont order good ethics ?
So there is no 'or' here.
İf you are religious, you should have good ethics too.
As i said,SHOULD,but some aply them and some dont.

I believe its ok to drink in Christianity, but not become drunk. Many many Church of England vicars (priests) drink regularly! They have wine with meals and also drink spirits like whisky! Even taking the sacrement involves sipping wine! Its also well known with Irish Catholic priets.

I think also, you have to remember that there are few devout Christians in the west Canli. Most people are baptized, attend weddings and maybe funerals in a Christian chuch, but do not practice Christianity as a way of life.

For this reason (and because I hate hypocracy!) I call myself "agnostic".

İ dont know AEnigma, but what i understood is some parties forbbiding it totally,Catholic maybe ?

But,its same too in İslam, some people are Muslims, but dont practice all.
İts their responsibility, that doesnt mean its not in İslam what they dont do

I think Canli was referring to my post when she mentioned the word 'covered'. But I certainly did not mean any racism by the word - actually I have never heard it causes offence as many Turkish ladies, both covered and open, use the same word all the time ! If you read my post, you will also see that I am in favour of each to their own so long as the respect is from all sides.

But there is one thing that does confuse me Canli about your words, on the one hand you say that God ordered the veil, and then you say it is in your heart. I suppose you mean, people have varying levels of faith but that you believe without the veil, a woman is not a full muslim ????

Actually yes!
İ never heared of the terms covered women, and open women before!
İ read that term'covered women' only in postes were attacking them and didnt want even to mention the word Hijab.

Anyhow, what i say,of course it is an order from ALLAH and written in Qur'an,and i wont argue this.
There is the Holy book, Qur'an,and there are İmam, teachers of the religions,so who doesnt know, can go and ask.
İts not my responsibility as long as you have the methodes, you are not in deseret and you cant find out!
Who want to know he can do it,its his responsibility.
But dont state something you dont know, and all İmam said its in Qur'an,and we,who can understand the arabic can read and understand it very well too.
Saying its not and order from ALLAH is something you will be asked about it,so be sure about it very well before you carry that burden.

As in previous post someon has said, you use a math teacher to understand math,so why dont do to religion teacher to understand religion ?!

What i was saying, althought its an odered from ALLAH,but only your faith will let you bear it,because of course its not an easy thing to do.

Drinking is forbidden in Christianity too, people drink, and some dont, right ?
İn both cases its forbidden, but why do those people drink and the others dont ?
They have the faith in their hearts.
So faith is first, and then look about other things

İ cant never say on a Muslim person that heöor she is a full Muslim or not
As long as they say Şahada, then they are Muslims
ALLAH judge them,im not entitled to judge them
What i can judge is did they make the order from ALLAH or not,so not veiled women didnt do that order, judging them is up to ALLAH,its their responsibility, not mine.

Ps:im not adressing you personally Cacık

Heyyyy, heyyy,as i remembered in another thread, you were mixed up between Hijab and Niqab,so i posted a link for you to show you how we dress up wearing Hijab

And i agree with you about what you say too,who said im objecting ?!

Yes I got the words mixed up but I don't have any misplaced ideas about what it is!!! Clearly my vocabulary needs to improve - I had no idea that using the word "covered" would be so offensive or considered racist.

Be sure, we get called much more offensive things by muslims!!!

Hun,i did not accuse you of anything
İ know you try to understand too as many of us do,and i didnt mean you by the term 'Covered people' i wasnt addressing you too
Because i understand what you mean, that is why i posted the link, because i remember you asked about it before

And we debat,we talk so we dont have any offensive terms between us generaly not in here only
We try to understand eachother for that.

İm sorry if you got me wrong,i didnt mean it as you got it

I dont understand your point Yes, I used the phrase "cover" meaning cover parts of the body. I have no misconception of hijab :-S

Canli, as I said, I respect religion but not hypocracy. I am not criticising hijab (where did you think that?) I am saying that it is unfair to call women in Istanbul "bad muslims", without criticising the men as well.

That is ALL I said.
ANyway, let the "debate" continue, I wont be joining you.
