I have just got the book after waiting about 2 months for it. And now I have ??? Well it reminds me of the type font used when typewriters were first invented!

Where do you get decent books to help learn Turkish? any ideas?

Hello, to be honest I think there is a lack of good, well written Turkish language books for the beginner. I am halfway through the book "Teach Yourself Turkish". This has been the best I have been able to find after scouring bookshops here and in Turkey and the internet. It is used by some night school courses as their course book too. The explanations are quite clear and relatively easy to understand. Some of the logic and methods seem a bit strange sometimes and you may find conflicts on some points when consulting other sources. But, on the whole I think it's the best one to work with on your own. After you have done the first few modules it may be worth getting a grammar book too for further reference. I would strongly recomend that you dont look at any other books until you have done the first few modules of the basic book. You will just blind yourself with it all and it may put you off a bit.
Try and do a little every day and when you get irritated or bored take a break for a few days. It is a difficult language to learn and it has to be a labor of love, albeit a long one!
Finally, this website and others are a fantastic source of information and resources.

Enjoy and the best of luck!

Carl
