Alpha, here is the definition of love:
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres."

To Alpha:
Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love.
--Erich Fromm

The Art of Loving... a great book
Fromm was a psychologist, studied mystic and had humanistic views, all of these included in his work...

True love is when you have to watch a friend leave, with the knowledge that you might never see him again. But you know he'll be in your mind and heart forever

When you know the other person is better off without you and you let them go. That is the most difficult type of love.
