Hi All,
Im back , arrived home midnight last night.
im only writing this not to gloat or have any congratulation messages but to tell you what an absolute comedy my marraige was ,if i had not had been there i would never have had believed it!
first of all the medical i had to take or not.
all i had to do was take a blood test no medical
In the UK is it fair to say a blood test result can take 2-3 weeks?
well we went to the local doctors surgery and we sat in the waiting room for about 5 minutes then we were taken to a tiny little room out the back.
The doctor wasnt there so a man who i thought was the receptionist put on his rubber gloves and Ahmet was first,an old piece of rubber tubing was used as a tornaquet and Ahmets blood was taken first then mine.
Ahmets brother came with us and we are both smokers and he asked the man if we could smoke !!! IN THE DCOTORS SURGERY!!
sure says the man, "come into the kitchen"
we sat down at the kitchen table and started to smoke. the guy came in behind us with the blood samples and he unplugged his hot water urn and plugged in his centrefuge (sp)
and right in front of us in the KITCHEN he was doing the blood tests whilst we were puffing away next to him!!!
after he finished the blood he tested went down the sink NOOOOOOOO you cant do that, then his surgical gloves he was using went into the waste paper bin in the waiting room.
All in all for both of us from entering the surgery and leaving took no more than 20 mins for 2 blood tests! Still now i dont know who this guy actually was,he could have been another patient for all i knew lol
we then had to go to another office in town to collect the offical blood result paperwork then off to the council office where the marraige was to take place.
we went into a waiting room where there was a guy sitting behind a desk puffing away, we had tea with him whilst he checked the paperwork over and stamped some documents and away we we went . All done we gat married tomorrow at 11am.
I got up at 7am I WAS GETTING MARRIED WOOOOOO WEEEEEEE
At 0930 i was still getting ready no problem i had another hr and half when Ahmet said "please can you hurry up we need to leave in half an hr "
"sheeeeesh leave me alone we dont have to be there for another hr and half"
un beknown to me the the guy who was marrying us was free and said he wants to marry us at 1015 not at 1100hrs so half ready i had to pull on my clothes and dash out the house. His family were already leaving getting into taxi's they had ordered and i went to one of them when Ahmet stopped me and said "you are coming with me" and with this i was bundled into the family flatbed!!! i WAS GOING TO MY WEDDING IN A BLOODY FLAT BED TRANSIT!! his family went in cars
Arrived all dishevelled at the council office and we got to the waiting room where we were the day before and the same guy was there puffing away behind his desk and Ahmets family were there sitting and waiting and i asked which room we were going to to get married thinking it would be a lovely office but nooooooooo, this waiting room was where i was getting married.I was getting married in what looked like a bus station waiting room.
The guy put out his cigarette, put on his robe over his old jumper we had to pull 2 grubby chairs to sit on in front of him and the marriage ceremony started.
well , blink and you would have missed it!!
the ceremony was -

"Do you wish to marry Ahmet" reply yes
"Ahmet do you wish to marry Jackie" reply yes
Please put you foot on to his (means the crossing over and combining of lives)
FINISHED :-S :-S :-S :-S :-S

I whispered "what about the rings" dont we have to put them on"
Ahmet said something in Turkish
the guy said something like "oh you got rings? give them here then," he shoved one on my finger one on his"
NOW finished, all in all it took no more than 90 seconds, and thats the truth lol
im married , first time in my life, i went half prepared, dishevelled, went in a bloody transit van, married in a waiting room and the whole process took 90 seconds!
i got married on the 30th Novemeber but all the paperwork says the 29th.
When we went the day before the guy did the paperwrok, stamped it and thought we were going to get married there and then and so he stamped it all.
Believe me that is exactly how it happened, i couldnt be upset ,i just shook my head and laughed,so ladies and gents if you are planning a civil wedding in Turkey dont spend hundreds on clothes and preperation because you are in and out in seconds lol.
well thats my wedding folks lol

Kind Regards

Jackie
xx

Ha you may laugh but at least i knew i got married, Ahmets friend got married a couple of months ago and he said that his wife didnt even know she had got married !
same proccedure as me going to the council office to sort out paperwork and instead of doing it on another day like we did the registry office filled in the paperwork and then married them immedaitely she was only asked to say yes in turkish like me and she merely thought he asked her a question which she replied to in turkish so he understood , whallop she was married.
she bought a wedding dress the lot and she ended up getting married in jeans and a teeshirt!
I have to admit if Ahmet did that to me i would have been livid that he didnt actually explain what was going on but as it wasn't me i thought it was funny lol

Awwwwwww I think its really sad . I would have been in tears! I wouldn't care when or where I got married and certainly wouldn't want a big expensive wedding, but would at least want my partner to be a bit more romantic on the day!!

Anyway - congratulations to you both

By the way, I was laughing at the way you told the story!! I wish you all the best and hope all goes well. You can always have a blessing sometime with all the trimmings!

Aww congrats to you!

Although I must say that I hope my wedding will be different. I understand that it's turkish law but I simply will not go to some doctor and make a blood test on the day which is supposed to be the most romantic in my life. Plus I'm also scared of needles.

I suppose the most important thing is that you got married but still I can't believe how insensitive the turkish system is. At least now I know that we will marry in my home country.
